I got the Lift because my right foot is 1/2 inch shorter than my left, and it's starting to affect my method of walking. I started at 3/8 of an inch because the product came that way, although my physical therapist recommended 1/4 inch. The Lift was helping to make improvements in my walking. On the 3d day, I felt a sharp pain in my right arch, which told me that I was in danger of aggravating the flat foot problem there. I realized that with the lift, and tying my shoe tightly, there was strong, all-day downward pressure on the arch. So I used the Lift at 1/4 inch and tied the shoe looser. This seems to have solved the problem, while I continue to benefit from the arch. So, the adjustability of the Lift was essential for me.
